Bubba Smith, a nine-year NFL veteran with five of those years with the Baltimore Colts, and who is perhaps only known for playing Officer Hightower in the Police Academy movies, died on Wednesday at his home in Los Angeles, according to reports . Smith, 66, was reportedly found in his home by a janitor and is likely to have died a natural death.
Smith played for the Baltimore Colts from 1967-1971.He played in two Pro Bowls in 1970 and 1971 and was first team All-Pro in '71.
A native Texan, born Charles Aaron Smith, went to Michigan State for his college career, which eventually would in a college Hall of Fame career development. A two-time All-American, he helped the Spartans lead just shy of a national title.
His Hollywood career included a role on Married ... Additional children with his famous Police Academy again as an officer Moses Hightower, a larger-than-life florist who join during the year his business on the Zanny Police Academy.
